Abby Reames
Abby Reames is a Metairie, LA native and a graduate of Archbishop Chapelle High School. She first attended LYS as a delegate in 2018 and has continued to grow through the program ever since. Abby earned her degree from the University of New Orleans, where she majored in Biology and minored in Chemistry. After spending much of her undergraduate career on a pre-dental path, Abby took a leap of faith and discovered her true passion in occupational therapy. She is proud to have been accepted into three OT programs and will begin graduate school for Occupational Therapy next year.
In her non-LYS life, Abby is currently in a gap period before starting OT school, working as the Administrative Manager for Stanford Senior Services and as an aftercare teacher at Highlands Montessori School in Denver, Colorado.
To Abby, LYS means the entire world. She knows firsthand how deeply it can impact a life, and seeing it change lives year after year has given her a long-term commitment to sharing the magic of LYS with others. For Abby, LYS is not just the third week of July. It is a lifetime of open doors, built from the experiences, lessons, relationships, and tools gained during that one powerful week.
LYS has taught Abby perseverance and shown her that she can do anything she puts her mind to. Eight years after being a delegate, she says she is still learning from LYS, allowing it to shape her into the woman and leader she strives to be everyday. Her message to delegates is to trust the process, take risks, and be open to discovering new things about themselves.
Abby says: “LYS has been part of every stage of my life since I was a delegate. It gave me the courage to step outside of my comfort zone, take risks, and find what I am truly passionate about. I hope every delegate leaves this week knowing that they are capable of more than they ever imagined. Be open, be brave, and know that the lessons and relationships you build here can continue to shape your life long after you leave LYS.”
