The Louisiana Youth Seminar is proud to welcome Louisiana State Representative Terry C. Landry as our featured speaker for the 2026 Political Party Kickoff!
It is our distinct honor to welcome home State Representative Terry C. Landry Jr.—a leader whose life reflects the LYS belief that leadership is not about titles, but about showing up, serving others, and making a meaningful difference.
A graduate of Louisiana State University and the Southern University Law Center, Terry also earned a Master’s in Public Administration from Southern University in Baton Rouge. Throughout more than 16 years of public service, he has held leadership roles with the Louisiana Department of Health, the Department of Children and Family Services, Acadian Ambulance, and the Southern Poverty Law Center.
Today, Terry proudly represents District 67 in the Louisiana House of Representatives and serves as Whip for the Louisiana House Democratic Caucus. In every role, he has worked to build consensus, expand opportunity, strengthen communities, and ensure that the voices of everyday Louisianans are heard.
Long before serving in the State Capitol, Terry began his leadership journey right here at Louisiana Youth Seminar. He attended LYS in 1998 as a delegate from Teurlings Catholic High School in Lafayette. He later became a member of the LYS Hall of Fame and has continued to give back by donating, recruiting delegates, visiting the seminar, and supporting the next generation of Louisiana leaders.
Grounded in faith, Terry approaches leadership as a calling—one rooted in integrity, humility, and responsibility to others. His greatest pride is his family. He is a devoted husband to Valencia Vessel Landry, a dedicated law professor and his partner in life and service. Together, they are raising their three children—Kierstyn, Langston, and Brynnon—with the same values of education, faith, community, and service that have guided Terry throughout his life.
Terry does not simply hold office—he serves with intention, leads with purpose, and continues to live LYS.
