The Louisiana Youth Seminar is proud to welcome Louisiana State Representative Terry C. Landry as our featured speaker for the 2026 Political Party Kickoff!
Terry C. Landry Jr. learned early that leadership isn’t about titles—it’s about showing up and delivering for people. Growing up in a family devoted to public service, he watched his father, Col. Terry C. Landry Sr., become the first Black Superintendent of the Louisiana State Police, setting a powerful example of service, justice, and integrity. His mother, Sharon Broussard Landry, a tireless advocate for youth, instilled in him the belief that true leadership is about making a difference in people’s lives.
Terry followed that path, but he forged his own way. With degrees from Louisiana State University and Southern University Law Center, he built a career fighting for fairness, accountability, and opportunity for all Louisianans. Over the past 16 years, he has worked at the highest levels of state government, public policy, and the private sector, ensuring that everyday people—not special interests—come first. Currently, Terry lives out this call to serve through representing District 67 in the Louisiana House of Representatives.
Terry’s greatest pride is his family. He is a devoted husband to his wife, Valencia Vessel Landry, a dedicated law professor, whose support and partnership fuel his passion for service. Together, they are raising their three children—Kierstyn, Langston, and Brynnon—with the same values of education, integrity, and community that have guided Terry’s life.
Terry began his LYS journey in 1998 as a delegate from Teurlings High School in Lafayette. He is a member of the LYS Hall of Fame and continues to support Louisiana Youth Seminar through donating, recruiting and visiting us each seminar.
