Sponsorship FAQs
-
All rising high school juniors and seniors, and sophomores feeling up to the challenge, are encouraged to attend.
-
We accept registrations until we are full (a total of 250 students), but we have begun filling earlier each year, so we encourage you to get your registration forms in as soon as possible. For Sponsorship students, we request you register by April 15. If you are not able to meet this requirement, contact your LYS Sponsorship Representative.
-
You can register your student directly on the Sponsorship portal. If your student is registering themselves, direct them to www.louisianayouthseminar.org/register and ensure you give them the How to Register Students on Sponsorship information found on the portal. The registration requires medical information and guardian consent. However, if you start the form you can email a parent or student a link to finalize a form in progress.
-
Your LYS Sponsorship Representative will give you a unique Coupon Code to use when registering. This code pays for your registration in full. When you click “register and pay in full”, you will use your Coupon Code then click “apply” which will discount the payment in full.

Your student will receive periodic communications from LYS mainly through the student email address they provided when registering. Please ensure that your student regularly checks their email. Most communications will happen in the June-July timeframe. It is critical that the student correctly enters their email and the email of their parents/guardians. Registration confirmation emails from LYS will come from: noreply@jotform.com while other communications generally come from: lys@louisianayouthseminar.org so please whitelist these email addresses.
-
We recommend you use Google Chrome or another updated browser to register. When you complete registration there should be a message on your screen. Within the next few minutes you will get a confirmation email. Registration confirmation emails from LYS will come from: noreply@jotform.com while other communications generally come from: lys@louisianayouthseminar.org so please whitelist these email addresses.
-
You can register students by paying the tuition fee of $650; these students are considered as tuition students and NOT sponsorship students. Tuition students register on a first come, first served basis.
-
Yes, we have students attend from across the US and even other countries! Hope you’re prepared to see why Louisianans are proud of their Dream State!
-
There are several ways to recruit students for Sponsorship. (1) Select the student. (2) Ask other school personnel to recruit students. (3) Advertise LYS and invite students who are interested to come to a meeting and then make their interest known to you. (4) Recruit students who are already leaders in your high school. (5) Contact parents and have them recruit their student.
-
You should ensure the student and their parents/guardians commit to attending LYS in July and that the parents/guardians will get the students to LYS at LSU between 10-12 on the first day of LYS. You should ensure that you followup with the student and parents/guardians often between the time of registration and the day of LYS. If the student cancels, then you should let LYS know and recruit and register a substitute. You can do this up until the first day of LYS. You should ensure the student brings $15 cash for a key deposit, which will be returned if they do not lose their key. If you register students who do not show up to LYS, the Sponsor of your student will likely not sponsor students to future LYS.
-
You can send a thank you to your LYS Sponsorship Representative who will ensure that the right person receives the thank you. We have found that quotes from the student or you as the recruiter on the impact of LYS are the most meaningful to the Sponsor. Sponsors also love to see pictures. LYS also encourages you to request that the Sponsor enable students to come to LYS in future years.
