SPEAK UP! IT’S TUESDAY AT LYS! 🎤
Live report here from your favorite Boots on the Ground 🥾 LYS reporters! Tuesday at LYS is all about speaking and communicating. Whether it be through Speaking out Workshop, candidate speeches, or the 5-year club members sharing their love for LYS and the delegates they have committed to, Tuesday is about honing that oh-so-important skill of speaking! Here is a recap of today's activities:
After an enthusiastic start to the morning, delegates attended the next general session Speaking Out Workshop (SOW).🎙 Led by red shirt Brianna Anderson, SOW is an extremely helpful session that teaches delegates how to write and give their own speeches. The workshop also provided the delegation with an outline to get them started on the writing process and some dedicated support from our staff!
Today’s Spotlight involvement session is Dyadic Encounter. Dyadic Encounter 🤝 emphasizes the importance of building one-on-one relationships. The delegates are given conversation-starting topics to help them learn new things and develop a deeper relationship with their fellow delegates. We hope that our delegates take these skills home and take the time to learn more about their peers. Staff lead, Paige Sias, bets you’ll make a new friend!
Taking all they learned from Speaking Out Workshop, delegates took their intent to run for LYS Political office through to the next step by presenting speeches 🎤 to their party. How awesome were they?!
Friendly home group vs. home group competition surfaces again this afternoon with the Song Competition 🎶!
Tonight ends with a Louisiana Cookoff and a special ceremony for a group of staff members who celebrate a 🖐 5-year commitment to LYS. Ending the night with Political Party Primaries (🐷 v. 🐔) means a full but fun Tuesday!
